Ethel Anderson (20th Century)

Ethel Anderson was a career nurse who was the administrative head of Nantucket Hospital. Anderson was a self-taught artist who began painting after her retirement at the age of seventy. While she never publicly displayed or sold her work during her lifetime, her collection in its entirety was willed to a friend after her death and has been shown posthumously at both the Coffin School and the art gallery at Marine Home Center where her naïve style has attracted favorable comment.
