Mark Myers (b. 1945)

Born in 1945 in San Mateo California, Mark Myers currently resides in the United Kingdom. From a young age Myers was always interested in sailing and maritime history and as a young man worked aboard a variety of traditional sailing ships. He was educated at Pomona College in Claremont, California, however as an artist was mainly self-taught. Working in a variety of media Myers is strongly influenced by his profound interest in ships and the sea. He has concentrated mainly on marine painting and maritime history, taking particular interest in the heritage of North Devon and North Cornwall in the UK as inspiration for work that is exhibited worldwide.

Myers’ work is found in collections around the world and many maritime museums in both the United Kingdom and North America. He is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, serving as the Society’s President from 1993 until 1998, and a founding member of the American Society of Marine Artists.
