Addison Thomas Millar (American, 1860 - 1913)

Millar, who was both a painter and etcher received awards in three consecutive years during his late teens. He moved to New York City in 1883 and worked at the Art Students League. He was a student of William Merritt Chase while studying at the Shinnecock School. Millar exhibited in Philadelphia, Boston and Chicago galleries and was a member of the Society of American Artists and the National Academy of Design. His works are represented in the Detroit Institute of Arts, Library of Congress and the New York Public Library, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
