Among artists of the Modernist movement who more deliberately broke stride, Gene Davis was preeminent among America's most influential and successful Abstract artists; esteemed for his stripe works that span twenty-seven years. These works range in scale from miniscule micro-paintings to mammoth outdoor street paintings. Davis was active during the heyday of the 1960's Color Field, Washington Color School and Minimalist art movements.
