American Scrimshaw Sperm Whale Tooth, circa 1850, wraparound scene of a whaling bark flying the American flag and disguised as a 2-tier gunboat with deeply carved portals; off the bow a longboat is depicted going out after a whale. The base was incised to fit into a stand at some point in its life. Red collection number (1765) on the interior of cavity.
