Sanford Mason (American 1798-1862) Oil on Panel “Portrait of Obadiah Wheelock Albee of Marlborough Massachusetts”, identified, signed, located and dated verso: “O.W. Albee Marlborough, Painted By Sanford Mason at Nantucket Mass. August 1st 1840”, in period frame. Note: Obadiah was the son of Moses Albee and Lucretia Hayward; born 1798 in Milford, Mass. graduated from Brown University 1832. He taught school for many years in Marlborough and was a member of the Massachusetts Legislature for six years.
