Whaleman Made Antique Whale Ivory and Whalebone Swift, circa 1840, constructed of 144 whalebone ribs, connected with an antique whale ivory multi-turned cup pediment and sliding clamp; a 2-tier scribed lignum vitae wood base with barrel turned feet and spacers; the central whalebone shaft connected with a carved bone wing nut; the base retains the original “Barbara Johnson Delector in Balaenis” label Height 23 in.
