Jo Mead was a craftswoman, born in Michigan, studied at the institute of design under Lazlo Maholy-Nagy, and during WWII she designed camouflage for Navy destroyers; After the war she successfully operated her own studios in Chicago & Galena producing plaster casts based on Historical designs.
