Isaac Sheffield (1798-1845) “Portrait of Josiah Huntington – Captain of the Barque Georgia” Oil on Canvas, unsigned. Provenance: Descended in the Family. Born in Guilford, Connecticut, there is little known about Isaac Sheffield except that he was an itinerant painter who worked in the 1830s and early 1840s. Eventually settling in New London, he died there in 1945.
