Diminutive Newport, Rhode Island Flat-Topped Slipper-Footed Highboy, John or Christopher Townsend, circa 1740-60, plum pudding mahogany with line inlaid drawer fronts, slipper feet. Upper hardware replaced, waist and crown molding restored. Inscribed “W. Demarest” on the reverse backboards. Descended through the Demarest family, Bergen County New Jersey.
