Sailor Made Scrimshaw Panbone Oval Inlaid Ditty Box, circa 1830,
Honduras mahogany top inlaid with an ivory oval surrounded by 2 bands of baleen and ivory diamonds and wrapped in panbone with 2 circular laps. The box wrapped in a single piece of panbone joined by 4 lollipops, spikes and cut out circles with copper rivets. Height 2 ¾ in. x 7 in. x 5 ¼ in.
