Note: “This form Probably originated from the English creamware patterns, but the hand-cut piercing is Chinese in design. With centerpieces and fruit baskets, these baskets formed a part of the new ‘ritual’ of eating fruit in the late 18th century. It is likely that this shape was ordered as part of a dessert service.” Source David S. Howard, The Choice of the Private Trader, Zwemmer, 1994.
