Rare Whaleman Carved Whalebone 48 Inch Sail Cloth Measuring Stick circa 1820.  The whalebone ruler scrimshawed with number measurements from 25 to 48 inches housed in primitive wood sheath the length of which combined with the whalebone portion equals 48 inches.  The reverse of the stick engraved in cursive with owner’s name L.R.
