Crosthwaite was a modernist painter who first studied architecture for two years and then decided upon a career as an artist and enrolled in the Art Student’s League in New York City. He received a Hallmark Price, Saturday Evening Post Cover and played a role in the founding of the Bucks County Playhouse. Crosthwaite was a respected member of the New Hope, Pennsylvania art community.
