French Louis XVI Mahogany and Tooled Leather Architect’s Table, circa 1790-1800, signed L. Moreau (French 1741-1802), rectangular form, the tooled green leather work surface hinged and extends up 15” by way of a mechanical brass ratchet stiles concealed in the front legs of the table. The original removable paper ridge is present. A single drawer frieze with slide back tooled leather writing surface and side compartment with working lock and key. The brass knob above the drawer lowers the table down when compressed. Two tooled leather candle slides at each end, supported on four square tapering legs ending in brass sabots. Stamped L. Moreau underneath.
