Exceptional China Trade Fan, circa 1850, very fine gouache on paper with carved bone sticks depicting an early view panel of one of the most important seaports of the time, flanked by garden scenes with multiple figures with applied painted bone faces and silk robes on carved and pierced sticks. The reverse with an allover Mandarin scene with 29 figures with applied bone painted faces and silk robes. Within a gilt fan frame exposing both sides.
