A landscape and marine painter from Portland, Maine, George Morse was a founding member in 1860 of an informal painting group called ‘The Brushians’. Their nickname for him was ‘The Boss at Delano Park’ for a local park that he often used for subject matter. In 1917, he was President of the Portland Art Society.
