1958 Ty Cobb and Ted Williams Autographed Baseball from “Old Timers Day,” Yankee Stadium. Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees. Signed by Ty Cobb (green ink), Ted Williams, Jackie Jensen, and Joe Collins. The baseball was autographed at Yankee Stadium during the 1958 Old Timers event. As the then-seven-year-old tells his story, game sportscaster Howard Cosell grabbed an official Yankees ball and walked it over to the Red Sox dugout where Ted Williams and Jackie Jensen signed it; then, at the first base bleachers, Joe Collins signed as well. Cosell next gave the ball to a colleague, who instructed his seven-year-old son to crawl down under the seats with the ball, just behind home plate. The youngster popped up by one of the “Old Timers.” It was Ty Cobb – who autographed the ball using his green pen. That ball has been in the consignor’s family ever since.
