Important 19th C. Sailor Made Inlaid Presentation Box, tropical wood inlaid with whalebone and whale ivory playing card suits, American federal shield and quarter fans, interior with fitted compartment and tray, engraved silver presentation plaque to the Dabney family from the people of Horta, Azores. John B. Dabney was American Consul in the Azores from 1806-1826, his son Charles William Dabney served from 1826-1869, followed by his son Samuel Wyllys Dabney serving from 1872-1892 at which time the Dabney family left the Azores and returned to America.
