Very Fine Matched Pair of Scrimshawed Polychromed Whales Teeth, circa 1840, the first engraved with a starboard side view rendering of an American ship and the stipple-engraved legend Boston, a stern view of the same ship along side and the stippled inscription Elizabeth; the 2nd bearing a port view of the American Ship Caroline alongside a stern view of the same vessel and the legend Hector; each mounted on a wood and plexiglass stand; the ships depicted on this pair of teeth were active whalers in the late 1830s and 1840s.
